What we can cover: the what, the where and the who

The insurance policies that we provide have been tailored for people with a full UK driving licence, who require comprehensive insurance for a short period of time whilst living and driving in the UK.

About the driver

  • For car insurance: must be aged between 21 and 75 years at the time of application.

  • For van insurance: must be aged between 23 and 69 years at the time of application.

  • Must hold a full GB driving licence and have done so for at least 6 months at the time of application for car insurance, and 12 months for van insurance

  • Must be a permanent GB resident with a fixed residential address in England, Scotland or Wales for at least 12 months.

  • Must have no more that 6 licence points issued in the last 3 years.

  • Must not have been disqualified from driving in the last 5 years.

  • Must have no more than 1 fault / 2 no fault claims or losses in the last 3 years.

  • Must not have had a previous policy of insurance voided by an insurer.

  • Must have no criminal convictions, no current Anti-Social Behaviour Order (ASBO) or Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) and do not have any unspent criminal convictions (except for those resulting from motor offences).

  • Must only apply for a quote on a vehicle that you are legally able to drive (e.g. where you have an automatic licence, you may only drive an automatic car).

About the car

  • Is registered in Great Britain (please note this includes England, Scotland and Wales and excludes Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands or any other state).

  • Is right hand drive only.

  • Must be in a roadworthy condition with a current and valid MOT (unless the purpose of the insurance is to take the car to a pre-booked MOT appointment).

  • Must have valid road tax (unless the purpose of the insurance is to tax the car).

  • Must have a minimum value of £1,500.

  • Must have a current market value of less than £65,000.

  • Is no more than 3.5 tonnes GVW (gross vehicle weight).

  • If the car is leased, the lease must be for a duration of 12 months’ or more.

About the van

  • Is registered in Great Britain (please note this includes England, Scotland and Wales and excludes Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands or any other state).

  • Is right hand drive only.

  • Must be in a roadworthy condition with a current and valid MOT (unless the purpose of the insurance is to take the van to a pre-booked MOT appointment).

  • Must have valid road tax (unless the purpose of the insurance is to tax the van).

  • Must have a minimum value of £1,500.

  • Must have a current market value of less than £40,000.

  • Is no more than 3.5 tonnes GVW (gross vehicle weight).

About the use

  • If the vehicle is not yours, you must have permission from the legal registered keeper to insure and use the vehicle.

  • The vehicle must start and end its journey in the UK and must not be imported or exported during the policy duration.

What this means is, to be eligible for a policy with Covertime, you must at all times meet the above criteria and you must always comply with any driving licence restrictions that may be applicable to you.
