Safety first
Stop the vehicle in a safe place at, or near to, the scene of the incident.
Switch on your hazard lights.
If anyone is injured, call an ambulance.
If you are unable to move your vehicle to a safe place, ensure everyone is out of the vehicle and moved to a safe area away from traffic.
Information gathering
Swap details with the other parties involved, including name, address, telephone. number, insurer details, registration number, vehicle make and model.
Take photos of vehicle damage, registration plates and any other damaged property.
Take photos of anything else that may be important to the incident, for example, vehicle positions, road signs and junctions.
Obtain any dash camera footage.
Ask for contact details of any witnesses to the incident.
Call the police if your vehicle has been subject to a theft, attempted theft or break-in.
Make a claim
Contact the insurer as soon as possible. Their contact number can be found on your policy documents, or in the Claims section of our Help Centre here.
If your vehicle needs to be recovered, your insurer will arrange this for you.
